  5.      In addition to WPTOOLS, Software by Seidman publishes several 
  6. other WordPerfect-related shareware programs.  These programs are 
  7. distributed through the usual shareware channels, and you may obtain 
  8. them that way and try them before you register.  
  9.  
  10.      If you prefer, you can obtain the programs directly from us by 
  11. sending the license fee and $2.00 for shipping and handling.  The 
  12. programs are described below, and an order form appears after the 
  13. descriptions.

  23. WPMD -- The Wperf5 File Doctor
  24. --------------------------------

  26. WPMD fixes sick or broken WordPerfect Version 5.x files.  There are 
  27. many different symptoms of a sick or broken file.  Sometimes some or 
  28. all of the text disappears, although the file size indicates that the 
  29. text should still be there.  Sometimes WPerf5 fails to recognize the 
  30. file as a WPerf5 document file.  And sometimes other things go wrong.  
  31. WPMD can usually cure the file, creating a WPerf5 file requiring only 
  32. minor cleanup.

  36. MACROAID
  37. --------

  39. MacroAid includes seven utility programs for use with WordPerfect 
  40. Corporation program macros.  They work with macros for WordPerfect 5.0 
  41. and 5.1, PlanPerfect 5.0 and 5.1, DrawPerfect 1.0 and 1.1, ED 3.0, 
  42. LetterPerfect 1.0, and Shell 3.0.  They may work with later versions 
  43. and other programs as well.  (The will not work with the Windows 
  44. version of WordPerfect.)  These programs are primarily intended for the 
  45. serious macro writer.  MacroAid also includes a shell program to 
  46. facilitate using the utility programs.

  48. Here are brief descriptions of the seven application programs:

  51. MacArgs:  Changes assignments to macro variables with DOS commands.

  68. MacAscii:  Converts macros to ASCII text files or WordPerfect documents 
  69. so that they can be edited in WordPerfect or an ASCII text editor.  
  70. MacAscii also converts the ASCII text file or WordPerfect document back 
  71. to a macro.  Allows editing of macros too big for the built-in macro 
  72. editor; editing of SH macros without WPCorp's ED editor; easy printing 
  73. of macros; use of powerful text processing and editing tools readily 
  74. available for ASCII text files.

  76. MacCalls:  Lists the files required by {CHAIN}, {NEST}, and {SHELL 
  77. MACRO} commands in a macro and the files required by these files.

  79. MacCrush:  Compresses macros by eliminating comments and the tabs and 
  80. spaces used only for formatting; replaces variable names and labels 
  81. with two-character names and labels.  Makes your macros load and 
  82. execute faster.

  84. MacChang:  Changes the product type and version numbers stored within 
  85. macros. Changing your carefully developed WordPerfect macros to 
  86. PlanPerfect macros, for example, sometimes results in a working 
  87. PlanPerfect macro and should always at least make the conversion 
  88. process easier.

  90. MacFind:  Searches for text strings, macro commands, and key commands 
  91. in macros specified with wildcard file specifications. 
  92.  
  93. MacRef:  Provides a cross-reference listing of a macro -- a file with a 
  94. line-numbered version of the text of the macro and a listing of each 
  95. macro command, key command, variable name, shell variable name, label, 
  96. and called file, with the line numbers on which each appears.  An 
  97. essential tool for the development and debugging of complex macros.

  104. GV2WP
  105. -----
  106.  
  107. GV2WP converts GrandView files to WordPerfect 4.2 or 5.0 files.  The  
  108. conversion is accomplished in a single step (in which GV2WP calls 
  109. GV2TXT, a program by the author of GrandView, included with GV2WP).  
  110. GV heading labels are converted to WordPerfect automatic paragraph 
  111. number.  Underlining, bolding, and other font attributes, and font 
  112. size changes are preserved if you are converting to WordPerfect 5.0.  
  113. Category information is optionally converted.  Special codes allow 
  114. drafting of footnotes in GrandView for conversion to WordPerfect.  
  115. Numerous formatting options are available.

  119. PCOWP
  120. -----

  122. PCOWP converts structured files produced by PC-Outline and other 
  123. outlining programs to WordPerfect 4.2 or 5.0 files.  Heading labels 
  124. are converted to WordPerfect automatic paragraph numbers.  With minor 
  125. preprocessing by one PCOWP option, PC-Outline underlining is 
  126. converted.  Special codes can be used in your outlining program to 
  127. allow conversion of other attributes, footnotes, and other features.  
  128. Numerous formatting options are available.

  133. WPXREF
  134. ------

  136. WPXREF provides for WPerf4.2 the kind of automatic reference 
  137. capability that WordPerfect Corporation itself provided for WPerf5.0.  
  138. You place some simple codes in your WPerf4.2 document indicating the 
  139. cross-references you want.  Just before printing the file, you run 
  140. WPXREF on the file, creating a new output file in which the codes have 
  141. been replaced by correct and up to date cross references to footnote 
  142. numbers, paragraph numbers, and page numbers.  You can then revise 
  143. your original document, and run WPXREF on the revised original.  The 
  144. new output file has updated the cross-references to correspond to the 
  145. changes you made in editing.

  149. Software by Seidman also publishes several WordPerfect-related programs 
  150. that are not available as shareware.  If you have any interest in these 
  151. programs, please let us know.  These programs include the following

  154. REMAP
  155. -----
  156.  
  157. REMAP translates any of the characters in the WordPerfect character 
  158. sets to any other character in the WordPerfect character sets.  The 
  159. user supplies an ascii text file, each line of which specifies, by 
  160. character set and character position, a character to be translated and 
  161. the character to which it is to be translated.  Thus a single pass 
  162. through the document can handle as many replacements (translations) as 
  163. desired.

  165. COUNTEM
  166. -------
  167.  
  168. COUNTEM counts the words in a WordPerfect file.  Why use it instead of 
  169. the word counting function built into WordPerfect?  First, COUNTEM is 
  170. faster on a file by file basis, and, if you have multiple files to 
  171. process, is still faster overall, because it can handle wildcard input 
  172. file specifications.  Second, COUNTEM and WordPerfect have somewhat 
  173. different ideas of what constitutes a word.  The most important 
  174. difference is that COUNTEM will treat as a word a string of WordPerfect 
  175. characters that all display on screen as little boxes instead of proper 
  176. characters.  Thus even if you are using WordPerfect's English language 
  177. module, you can count words written entirely in alphabets that do not 
  178. display on screen.  There are other differences in the way the two 
  179. programs define words, but COUNTEM's definitions can easily be modified 
  180. to meet your needs.  In other words, we are prepared to customize the 
  181. definition of a word in COUNTEM.
